  2. I've always loved the Surfer Rosa album. When it first came out the Pixies were on the vanguard of the 4AD label's sonic assault - or was it a sonic seduction? Whatever it was, it was a perfect moment in time for this quirky, chunky album on its sumptuous, esoteric record label. I already have a CD version which includes the Come on Pilgrim EP /5(54).

  4. While it's nice to have these two records on one disc, the sequencing of Come on Pilgrim after Surfer Rosa is a little disconcerting, since the two albums each have distinctive sounds that clash slightly.9/

  5. Back at the emergence of Pixies as Indie icons, this album was available on CD tagged onto the end of Surfer Rosa. It's a short album, more of an EP but it is essential. Raw, Loud/Quiet and still fresh/5(68).

  6. Three CD package will be released October 26th. (A very limited deluxe vinyl boxset, available to pre-order now, will be released later in (exact date TBC). It features a clothbound hardbook, clear 3xLP and lyric booklet.

  7. The Surfer Rosa series was a collaborative effort between myself and Pixies graphic designer Vaughan Oliver. This was the first time I was to photograph a stranger with a sense of intimacy and candour. Working in a similar way to “Nimrod’s Son” – my title for the photograph used on the cover of the Pixies EP Come on Pilgrim – Vaughan and I hand-built a set in the upstairs function.
